The unique conversion of the Mercedes SLK R170 into the Renovatio SL300 has not only caused a stir in the tuning and classic car scene but has also attracted media attention. In the 500th episode of GRIP – The Motor Show on RTL2, the vehicle was showcased and impressed not only with its nostalgic design but also with its powerful sound. Maxhaust provided this special sound with its sound module.

Unique Conversion with a Story

The Renovatio SL300 is the result of a passionate father-son project. Mario Piehl, a former racing driver, and his father Christian Piehl transformed a Mercedes SLK R170 into a gullwing car in the style of the 1950s. This project was not only a technical challenge for Mario Piehl but also a personal journey. After a serious accident in 2008 that ended his racing career, he found a new passion and a form of therapy in converting the SLK. The name "Renovatio" stands for the revival and reinterpretation of classic automotive art.renovatio-mobilitys.com

Maxhaust Provides the Perfect Sound

To give the vehicle the right acoustic presence, the Renovatio team chose Maxhaust's active sound module. This system allows the sound of the vehicle to be individually adjusted and controlled. In the GRIP show, the car was presented with the Maxhaust module, giving the SL300 a powerful and authentic sound. The impressive sound was captured in a video and is available online.
