Here you’ll find the most frequently asked questions about the Pedal Control Box

Is the Maxhaust Bridge required?

The Pedal Control Box comes with an included remote control and can also be used with the Maxhaust Bridge app, but without Smart Control!

Can the system be controlled via my vehicle drive modes or other buttons?

Control via Smart Control / vehicle buttons / vehicle drive modes is only available in combination with the Maxhaust Bridge!

What is Smart Control?

Smart Control combines the DTE Pedal Box with the Maxhaust Bridge.

With the Maxhaust Bridge, you can map DTE Pedal Box profiles directly to your vehicle buttons and perfectly match your drive modes to the throttle response. For example, you can activate your Sport profile at the press of a button and immediately enjoy more dynamic, lag-free acceleration. Experience a driving feel that’s perfectly tailored to your needs—at the touch of a button.

What exactly does the Pedal Control Box do? How does it work?

The Pedal Control Box intervenes directly in the control of the electronic accelerator pedal and optimizes its response curve. It reduces the factory-related delay in signal transmission and flexibly adjusts the stock calibration. As a result, the vehicle reacts noticeably faster to throttle inputs and accelerates without a perceptible delay—regardless of the driving situation. The result is a much more direct driving feel, improved throttle response, and an overall more dynamic driving experience—plus added comfort and more driving fun.

Why is there a Pedal Control Box tailored to each vehicle type?

Even within a single model line, vehicles can differ technically. To ensure the Pedal Control Box works correctly, it is configured specifically for your vehicle. Please provide the manufacturer, engine, and model year when placing your order.

Why doesn’t the vehicle manufacturer improve throttle response from the start?

Because vehicles are sold worldwide, manufacturers design them around average customer preferences. This helps reduce costs and makes production more efficient.

Do all safety precautions of the electronic accelerator pedal and the vehicle’s main control unit remain intact?

Yes, the Pedal Control Box is designed so that all safety functions and fault detection mechanisms of the electronic accelerator pedal remain intact and are not affected in any way.

What does Directive 2014/30/EU mean?

Electrical and electronic systems used during vehicle operation must meet the requirements of Directive 2014/30/EU regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The Pedal Control Box meets these requirements and carries both the ECE and CE markings.

Will my insurance coverage remain valid?

Yes, because all engine parameters remain unchanged. However, for a binding answer, we recommend also checking with your insurance provider.

Does the Pedal Control Box affect the engine’s service life?

No, adjusting the accelerator pedal does not affect the engine’s service life.

Do turbo diesel engines produce more particulate emissions?

No, because the Pedal Control Box has no effect on exhaust temperature. This means exhaust filters are not put under additional strain, and particulate emissions do not increase.

Can I use my Pedal Control Box in my next vehicle?

The Pedal Control Box can be installed in any vehicle that uses the same accelerator pedal type. However, reprogramming is not possible, because the devices also differ in hardware depending on the pedal type.
